We created the RETINA® ring because a wedding band is the most personal piece of jewelry in our lives. It accompanies us every day and—just like us—should not be a mass-produced item. As we searched for our own rings, we realized: There are many beautiful rings out there. But none that met our standards.
In the past, a ring simply meant: I’m taken. Our ring should say more than that.
It should express who we are to each other.

As goldsmiths, we translate your individual retinas into gold or platinum, combining both patterns—two life paths that touch and intertwine.

Consultation
Book a personal consultation—online or at our studio in Basel. We take the time to understand your wishes, your style, and your story. A visit to our studio is a wonderful experience—but not a requirement. Your retina can also be scanned at a local partner, and your design journey can take place entirely via video call.
Design
Your personal RETINA® signature, designed entirely according to your wishes, is transformed into a lifelike 3D rendering—a captivating first glimpse of the piece of jewelry that will soon belong exclusively to you forever.

Manufacturing
Your approved design will be brought to life by our goldsmiths with precision, patience, and dedication. Within a few weeks, you will hold your unique creation in your hands—ready to wear or give as a heartfelt gift.

Even before production begins, your wedding rings come to life. Our detailed 3D visualization allows you to explore every element of your design—from refined surface textures and sparkling gemstones to engravings and fine finishes. Everything you want to know before your consultation in Basel – from the first idea to the finished ring.
Every person carries a retinal pattern that exists only once. During the RetinaScan, we capture this pattern and translate it into the design of your ring. The result is a wedding ring whose uniqueness does not come from artificial limitation, but from you. There Is Only One.
The RetinaScan takes about a minute and is completely contact-free. We use a medical fundus camera of the kind ophthalmologists use – no contact, no eye drops, no risk. You simply look into the camera for a moment, that is all.
RETINA®Rings for your wedding, in gold or platinum, start at CHF 2,800. Before production, we create a photorealistic 3D visualization of your design (CHF 400 per piece), which is fully credited when you place your order. You will receive a transparent quote for your chosen design during the consultation.
Most couples choose a combination: one pattern from your own retina and one from your partner's. The two patterns intertwine into a single image of entwined roots – aesthetically the most beautiful result and, above all, the strongest symbol: the eternal bond between two people in love.
Alternatively, you can each wear both of your partner's patterns on your own ring. Such a ring says: I symbolically give you the window to my soul.
No. The retinal pattern looks like fine, entwined roots – an image that stands for stability, growth and strength, and one that convinces most people at first glance. To outsiders, it is an exceptionally beautiful ring. Only you know what it truly means.
The certificate you receive explains and documents your choice in detail and records how the patterns were combined and immortalized on your rings.
We craft exclusively in gold and platinum – stable, timeless materials that are highly resistant to everyday wear and can still be reworked, for example for a later ring size adjustment. With cheaper materials, this is usually not possible.
From the RetinaScan to the finished ring takes about eight weeks. Ideally, plan your consultation three to four months before the wedding. If time is short: an express option is available on request for an additional charge.
Ideally, yes – the scan takes only about a minute and combines beautifully with your consultation at the atelier. If you live too far away, we are happy to recommend one of our partners who can perform the RetinaScan near you. Everything else can be discussed comfortably via video call.
You book an appointment online and we meet via video call. Together we discuss your ideas, profiles, materials and prices – just as if you were sitting with us at the atelier. For the RetinaScan and the fitting, we then arrange an appointment in Basel – or recommend one of our partners for the scan.
A deposit of 50% is due when you place your order; the balance is due when you collect your rings. We kindly ask customers from abroad to pay in advance. The 3D visualization (CHF 400 per piece) is fully credited.
Yes – free of charge, for a lifetime. Hands change over the years; your ring should always fit. Only for rings with gemstones, a charge may apply depending on the work required to correct the setting.
Your retinal pattern is used exclusively for the design of your jewelry. It is neither medically analyzed nor shared with third parties. It is your personal symbol – and it remains yours.
Yes. Under the name Kleine Rheinperle, we also craft classic, made-to-measure wedding rings in gold at our Basel atelier – from around CHF 2,000. The handcraft and personal consultation remain the same.
Yes, an inner engraving with your names, your date or a personal word is possible. It adds a second, quiet message to the retinal pattern – one that only you know.
