A ring that binds two brothers inseparably beyond death
A particularly moving assignment: the bond between two inseparable brothers, severed by the death of one, was to be restored in a special way. First, a memorial diamond was formed from the ashes of the beloved brother.
For us, this project was a beautiful and responsible task, which we felt was a great sign of trust. Our customer traveled from Nuremberg to Basel three times especially for meetings and to collect the item in person.
Although the focus of such meetings is on the individually crafted piece of jewelry, we consciously take our time, because when a piece of jewelry touches on life and death, it often leads to personal conversations that require space and mindfulness.
Two brothers—a symbol for eternity
Together, we decided on a ring in which the memorial diamond was embedded in the center. The fine lines of the other brother’s retina signature radiate out from it. The result is a symbol of love, continuity, and uniqueness.
This ring maintains a discreet unobtrusiveness, especially for those who are not in the know. At first glance, the diamond and retina signature appear to be decorative elements of the platinum ring. But underneath lies a story that only those in the know can read.
The diamond, the hardest gemstone of all, and platinum, the rarest of all precious metals, are considered extremely robust materials. It is therefore quite possible that such a ring will survive for centuries and carry its story into the future.
Two souls united for eternity
The accompanying certificate clearly documents how exactly these two individuals were immortalized in this ring. Even if the ring and certificate were to be separated one day, it is conceivable that the retina pattern would be recognized as such and, depending on future technology, assigned to its owner.
Just as Roman gold coins are still being unearthed today, this piece of jewelry could also be rediscovered one day and touch future generations as an artistic artifact.
But it would be most beautiful if this ring remained in the family. Perhaps one day a father will tell his son: “When my great-great-grandfather lost his beloved brother, he reunited him as a diamond together with his own retina signature in this ring. In this way, something transient was preserved forever in an authentic and personal symbol of deep meaning:
Since a diamond is considered a symbol of infinity and the eye is the window to the soul, this ring says: “Two souls united for eternity.”
I am absolutely overwhelmed—everything was simply perfect from start to finish. The creation of my custom ring with a diamond made from ashes far exceeded my expectations. It is truly a ring with soul and meaning, and it is absolutely unique. I wear my ring with indescribable joy—thank you so much for this incredible piece of jewelry! Simon H.
