3D visualization

See your piece before it is made.

A personalized one-of-a-kind piece cannot be tried on in advance. But it can be seen: photorealistically, in your precious metal, with your signature – before a single gram of gold is worked in our atelier.

With mass-produced goods, you see the product before you buy. With a one-of-a-kind piece made only for you, our photorealistic 3D visualization guarantees a risk-free decision: you decide only with a photorealistic image before your eyes, not with a mere idea in your head.

What you get to see

A photorealistic rendering of your design – not a sketch but an image – and for rings, an animation as well.

The visualization shows your piece just as it will look: shape and proportion, width and thickness, the surface, the metal color in platinum, yellow, red or white gold, any gemstone setting – and above all the course of your RetinaSignature on the finished surface.

Although we already produce a first 2D visualization in the initial consultation once the RetinaScans have been taken, only the 3D visualization is realistic enough to give you a true model of your piece before your eyes.

How the visualization is created

Four steps between your conversation and your approval.

Step 1

Design consultation

We record what is to be made: shape, width, metal, stone setting, how it will be worn. Your wishes become the basis of the model.

Step 2

Working in the signature

From your RetinaScan we select your personal RetinaCode® – the section with the most beautiful line work – and translate it into the three-dimensional model.

Step 3

Rendering

Material, light and surroundings are set until the image matches what you will later hold in your hand. You receive it digitally in your protected private download area.

Step 4

Revision and approval

You express your wishes, we adjust – as often as it takes until it is right. Only after your approval does production by hand begin in Basel.

Why it is credited

You pay for our design work, which is an essential part of how your piece comes to be.

Behind every visualization lie several hours of design work. That is why it is not free: CHF 400 per piece. If you decide on the piece, this amount is credited in full toward the purchase price – so when you order, the visualization costs you nothing.

And if you decide against it? Then you have made an informed decision instead of ordering an expensive one-of-a-kind piece on a hunch. That too is worth the effort. You will find all guide values at a glance on the prices page.

Part of the process

The visualization is not an optional extra but a fixed step on the way to your one-of-a-kind piece.

Rounds of revision until the design is right – production starts only after your approval

Credited in full toward the purchase price when you order

On request as an express visualization – accelerated for urgent occasions

When time is short

Normally you receive your 3D visualization within one week. Some occasions call for a faster turnaround. For these cases there is the express visualization: the same quality, a much shorter wait.

It is part of the home visit packages Signature Visit and Signature Experience and can be combined with our express service for production. We will tell you honestly in conversation what is realistic within your time frame – better a clear no than a broken promise.

Frequently asked questions about the 3D visualization

What is the 3D visualization at RETINA®?

A photorealistic rendering of your designed piece of jewelry, created before production. It shows shape, proportion, surface, metal color, stone setting and the course of your RetinaSignature just as the finished piece will look.

Is the 3D visualization credited?

Yes, in full when you order. The amount is credited entirely toward the purchase price of your piece. If you order, the visualization is therefore effectively free for you.

Why does the visualization cost anything at all?

Because behind every visualization lie several hours of design work: your RetinaSignature is selected, abstracted and translated into the three-dimensional model, then material, light and setting are added. If you decide on the piece, we bear this work in full – the amount is credited.

How many changes are possible?

As many as it takes until it is right. We work in rounds of revision: you see the design, express your wishes, we adjust. Only once you approve the design does production by hand begin. Very extensive redesigns that depart from the agreed concept are discussed openly in advance.

How long does the 3D visualization take?

Usually about one week after the RetinaScan and the design consultation. For urgent occasions there is an accelerated express variant; it is also included in the home visit packages Signature Visit and Signature Experience.

Do I have to order after the visualization?

No. The visualization commits you to nothing. It exists precisely so that you can decide at your leisure – with an image before your eyes rather than an idea in your head.

Do I get one visualization per ring or per pair?

The amount applies per piece of jewelry. For a pair of rings, both rings are visualized; what that means in your case is set out transparently in the quote.

Does the finished piece really look like the visualization?

Very close. Shape, proportion, width, setting and the course of your signature match the design. What a screen can never fully capture is the play of real light on polished metal and in a cut stone – usually in favor of the real piece.
